HCPC registration is a requirement for individuals seeking employment in certain professions in the UK. This would include Radiographers, Physiotherapists, Laboratory Technicians, Speech Language Therapists, Practitioner Psychologists etc. Valid HCPC registration is also a mandatory requirement for obtaining a Skilled Worker visa. Candidates do not need to be in the UK to complete the HCPC application process.
The main objective of the Professions Council is to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients by overseeing the regulation of 15 different health and care professions in the country.
There are different ways to apply for registration, depending on which part of the register you want to join and where you trained. Information on these routes, and other aspects of getting on the register, can be found on the HCPC website.
Here is a sample for a comprehensive outline of the steps required to obtain HCPC registration for radiographers:
A recognised radiography qualification is mandatory, which typically involves the successful completion of an approved degree program in diagnostic or therapeutic radiography from a reputable university or educational institution.
If English is not your native language, you may be required to prove your proficiency in English by taking a standardised test like the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Occupational English Test (OET).

To proceed, it is necessary for you to furnish documents validating your identity (such as a passport or driver’s license), as well as evidence indicating your radiography qualifications (like a diploma, degree certificate, or academic transcripts).
As part of the registration process, you might be required to disclose your health condition and physical capabilities, which could include a self-declaration. In order to ensure your ability to practice safely, it is important to undergo a criminal record check, typically conducted by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), to verify the absence of any criminal convictions that may be relevant to your profession.
